Center Creek Exploration Team

Sabrina, Becky, Ben and I (Pam) went across the bridge to explore Center Creek today. We had heard from the locals that it is good fishing, and is quite canoeable.

Indeed, when we arrived, there were folks fishing. Looking down into the clear water, we could see lots of small fry, which means there must be big fryers! We also saw a really big tadpole. Probably going to grow up into a big bull frog.

I waded out into the water. Cooooooold! Brrrrrr. After I got over the initial shock, it was refreshing because it was starting to get pretty hot and humid outside.
Just west of the bridge, there is a little 'waterfall' which would be a fun obstacle to negotiate with a canoe.

Becky and Ben have decided to come back another weekend and canoe from Sarcoxie to Carthage to check out that whole section of river for floatability.

Very few people ever canoe Center Creek according to the locals. So, it would be great for the canoeist who wants to have a private float, look for wildlife of the natural kind and not the partying kind like on some of the busier rivers.

Stay posted for potential float trip offerings on Center Creek from Beagle Bay RV Haven & Campground, LLC.

Rain, Rain, All The Day. We're Gonna Picnic Anyway!

It rained most of last week, and all of this weekend, but we got things done in spite of the rain. We focused on indoor work this weekend. John and Dana came down from St. Joe again, and as usual attacked with great vigor the task list.

The kitchen flooring was completed, kitchen cabinets were pulled from the rock house, cleaned, and sanded for installation in the grey house. Other kitchen cabinets were pulled from unoccupied apartments for use in the grey house... The new hot water heater was installed in the house after only 2 trips to Lowes. I think that is a record. Kitchen plumbing leaks were repaired, doors were tweeked so they shut better. The wallboard was pulled off the bathroom walls around the bathtub and a thorough deep cleaning was given to the bathroom. Ahhhh.

Saturday we set out to have a nice picnic during a brief show of sunshine. Rick grilled hotdogs, and Dana set up a lovely picnic table for us with sides and desert. Just as we were ready to sit down and eat, the rain broke out again. We scooped everything up and hurried inside John and Dana's camper for a cozy meal.

We are truly an international attraction. We have enjoyed having guests from Canada several times. This weekend, we had campers from Europe! They are on a 5-week long tour across America. We were quite honored to have them stay with us at Beagle Bay RV Haven & Campground.

Wildlife update:
Gus and Gertie were spotted by Dana, but alas, she did not have a camera available for a photo. We are still trying to get their picture. Gus even stood on his hind legs to get a better look at Dana before scurrying off to his den. (In case you don't know, Gus and Gertie are the resident Groundhogs who live near the houses on the property.)

Bella also had an adventure this weekend. With all the construction work going on at they grey house, doors opening frequently for materials coming in and scrap going out, she slipped out and got on the scent of some critter. She was heard Baying in the woods down by the pond. A search party did not find her, but instead, she came back to the house when the fun was over. I guess she knows where her meals are served.

Little Man the Sugar Glider

As mentioned before, we had a little furry visitor last Saturday and Sunday nights. Little Man, as he is called, graced us with his presence. He came out in the evening to the music hall and visited before the music started. Too cute! You can visit his people's web site by clicking on his picture. They have lots of info about Sugar Gliders.

Check out the new library. (Pardon the pun. One of our long-term campers loves to read and wanted to share her books with other campers. How thoughtful of her!

Our campers can come in and borrow a book, or donate one to add, or exchange one for another.

The roses are blooming at the front of the park. The red roses are in the raised bed in front of the office building. The yellow are at the entrance. Also, please notice the banner with the mascots on it in the background.

The front porch of the office is looking more inviting as the planter has flourished and is in full bloom.

Come sit a spell with us.
